Commission On Preaching

On November 14, 2005, the newly established Commission on Preaching held its first meeting in Adrian. Our charge from General Chapter, “We strongly recommend the creation of a Commission on Preaching.” The Commission is comprised of women representing Chapters throughout our Congregation. The purpose of this commission is to deepen our identity as preachers in the Dominican Order for the 21st century.

One of the first goals is to develop a process to understand and clarify what it means to be Dominican preachers in the 21st century, and to share how we preach in our diverse ministries.The members of the Commission on Preaching are Sisters Maria Goretti Browne, Joan Delaplane, Mary Pat Dewey, Sara Fairbanks, Patty Harvat, Cathy Olds, Rosa Monique Peña, Judith Shield, Mary Irene Walker, and Jeanne Wiest.

We are pleased to affirm Sara Fairbanks as Chair of the Committee, and as Congregation Promoter of Preaching.
